TG Omori Cries Foul Over Death Threats After Homophobic Post
Nigerian music video director ThankGod Omori, widely recognized by his moniker TG Omori, has publicly claimed that his safety and security are under threat, alleging he has been receiving death threats following controversial remarks he made about same-sex relationships.
The cinematographer initially ignited a firestorm of controversy over the previous weekend when he used his X (formerly Twitter) account to share his personal opinion on homosexuality. His brief but polarizing statement read: “Having same gender sex is evil,” a declaration that immediately sparked widespread backlash and debate across social media platforms.
The situation has escalated further after a magazine reportedly accused him of deliberately using the controversy as a publicity stunt to promote his line of branded glasses. This accusation, TG Omori claims, has severely endangered him by inflaming an already hostile response.
Crying out on X, the cinematographer vehemently rejected the magazine’s suggestion and pointed the finger back at the publication, arguing it was attempting to “set me up and risk my life.” He accused the media house of “gaslighting a global community” in an attempt to get him blacklisted merely for “speaking my truth in accordance to the laws of the federal republic of Nigeria.”
TG Omori revealed the severe consequences he has faced since the magazine’s article was published. “Death threats and wishes have been sent to me day n night, threatening my safety n security as a citizen,” he wrote, while directly quoting the contentious article shared on the magazine’s X platform. The public disclosure of these threats underscores the volatile intersection of social commentary, personal beliefs, and digital activism in Nigeria, where opinions on sexuality often draw intense and dangerous reactions. The director is now demanding that the threats against him be taken seriously as he asserts his right to free expression within the bounds of national law.
