Ten Arrested in Nasarawa Over Grisly Organ Trafficking Plot and Deadly Robberies

A series of intensive security operations conducted by the Nasarawa State Police Command has culminated in the arrest of ten suspects linked to two of the state’s most sinister criminal enterprises: a shocking organ harvesting ring and a ruthless armed robbery syndicate responsible for a fatal attack. Police Commissioner CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed revealed the details of the command’s significant security victories, underscoring the relentless pressure being applied to criminal elements operating across the state.

The most disturbing arrest centered on a chilling case of human organ trafficking. On November 17, police operatives were dispatched to the Yahaya Sabo Motor Park in Lafia following a distress call, where park officials had managed to apprehend a man suspected of being involved in the illicit organ trade. The individual, identified as 40-year-old Maro Ebojoh, was quickly taken into police custody. Further investigation established that Ebojoh had traveled from Delta State to Lafia just three days prior, on November 14, specifically to recruit unsuspecting individuals for an illegal kidney transplant scheme. His method involved a cynical lure: promising each victim a substantial payment of ₦2,000,000 upon the completion of the procedure.

The prompt police intervention was critical, resulting in the immediate rescue of four potential victims—Umar Ahmadu Barau (25), Suleiman Alhaji-Garba (20), Williams Dadung (32), and Stanley Ezekiel (27). But the gravity of the situation was compounded by the discovery that one victim, having passed a preliminary medical screening, had already been transported to Abuja for the scheduled transplant. Fortunately, the procedure was unexpectedly halted when the victim developed blood pressure concerns. Capitalizing on this momentary setback for the criminals, Nasarawa police operatives swiftly moved to Abuja, successfully locating and rescuing the victim unharmed. Ebojoh, under interrogation, provided a disturbing confession, admitting to receiving a ₦500,000 advance payment from a client for the illicit trade and further confessing to having facilitated a similar transaction just two months earlier. This sophisticated operation, crossing state lines and involving medical procedures, underscores the complexity and danger of the criminal networks the police are currently battling.

In an entirely separate but equally vital security operation, the command successfully dismantled a notorious armed robbery gang that had been terrorizing residents around Mararaba and its environs. On November 4, officers attached to the Mararaba ‘A’ Division executed a raid on a criminal hideout located on Musbawu Street, Mararaba. The operation led to the apprehension of nine suspected gang members, all aged between 18 and 29. This youthful syndicate specialized in nighttime attacks on residents, primarily targeting and stealing mobile phones. The sophistication of their operation extended beyond simple theft; they routinely accessed victims’ bank accounts to transfer funds before moving on to resell the stolen devices. The gang’s reign of terror included a horrific event on May 20, 2025, in Uke, where they committed culpable homicide by killing the son of a serving police officer during a robbery. The suspects have since confessed to multiple operations, including this deadly attack.

CP Mohammed confirmed that all ten suspects—the organ harvester and the nine alleged armed robbers—are currently being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). The cases are being meticulously prepared, and all the suspects will be duly charged to court upon the conclusion of comprehensive investigations. The Commissioner used the platform to issue a stern advisory to the public, particularly cautioning residents to exercise extreme vigilance against individuals who might pose as legitimate organ donor agents or recruiters. He implored the community to actively support the police command by maintaining high levels of awareness and promptly reporting all suspicious activities, emphasizing that community collaboration is paramount to sustaining the recent security gains. These arrests send a powerful signal that the Nasarawa Police Command is intensifying its crackdown on both violent crime and the emerging threat of illicit human trafficking within the state.
