TCN Begins 10-Day Gombe Substation Maintenance, Assures Customers Of No Load Loss

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has scheduled a ten-day preventive maintenance exercise at its Gombe 132/33 kV Transmission Substation, starting from October 14 and running through to October 24, 2025. The crucial work is aimed at upgrading the transmission infrastructure to ensure stable bulk power supply.
Dependable NG reports that the maintenance, announced by TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, will be carried out daily between 9 am and 4 pm. A key takeaway from the announcement is the assurance that the work will not affect bulk electricity supply to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) throughout the period.
According to TCN, the primary objective of the exercise is to allow engineers to work on the Shongo 33kV Feeder 8 and replace its protection and control panels with new, modern ones.
To completely prevent any power interruptions for customers, TCN has implemented a seamless load transfer plan. The utility stated: “There will be no load loss on the Shongo 33 kV feeder, as the load will be transferred to the Darazo 33 kV feeder, while the load on the Mallam Sidi feeder will be transferred to the Doma 33 kV feeder 6.” This contingency plan ensures that the bulk power supply to JEDC remains uninterrupted during the maintenance window, reinforcing TCN’s commitment to grid stability and reliability.
