Swift Operation: Anambra Police Rescue Kidnap Victim After N10 Million Ransom Demand

The Anambra State Police Command successfully rescued a kidnap victim just seven hours after his abduction, foiling a N10 million ransom demand from the criminal elements. The rescue operation, a swift and coordinated effort, was spearheaded by the Command’s Tactical Team, Dependable NG reports.

The spokesperson for the Anambra Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed in a statement that the operation was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, September 30, 2025. The victim, who was initially abducted by armed criminals at Umuru village, Nnobi, was successfully rescued in the Oba/Ojoto axis of the state.

According to SP Ikenga, the criminal syndicate had demanded a ransom of N10 million from the victim’s family. However, acting on intelligence, the Joint Command Tactical Team was immediately deployed to the location to conduct aggressive and extensive combing of the area. The pressure from the advancing police operation forced the kidnappers to hastily release the victim, who was then abandoned as the hoodlums fled into nearby bushes.

The victim was rescued unharmed, subsequently debriefed by the police, and has since been safely reunited with his family. The police spokesperson noted that operatives are currently working on crucial clues to ensure the possible arrest of the fleeing criminals.

CP Ikioye Orutugu, the Commissioner of Police for Anambra State Command, was quoted in the statement, commending the operatives for their prompt and effective action. He further reassured the residents of Anambra State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime, protecting lives, and maintaining public safety throughout the state.
