Singer Shola Allyson Confirms Separate Residence from Husband
Famous Nigerian singer, Shola Allyson, has disclosed that she and her husband are currently not living together, emphasizing that she has never experienced the kind of marital bliss often described by others.
Dependable NG reports that the musician made this personal revelation during a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV.
While speaking about her relationship and marital status, the 54-year-old artist, who rose to prominence with the love album ‘Eji Owuro’, stated: “I’m married, but I’m not in my husband’s house. We live separately.”
Sharing her difficult marital experience, the singer explained that the older generation failed to prepare them for the reality of marriage, painting an overly romanticized picture.
When the interviewer referenced her hit song, ‘Eji Owuro’ (which translates to Morning Dew), and asked if she experienced genuine love from her husband, Allyson replied candidly:
“We lied before. Those older than us didn’t inform us that it’s tough. They made us believe that so long as you both love each other, you will live happily ever after, but it’s a lie. That’s not the experience I have. I didn’t have the experience of living happily ever after. I did all I could to make it work.”
Allyson further clarified in the interview that she prefers to be called a singer rather than a gospel artist, explaining that she sees her partner and herself as people who “married each other” rather than subscribing to the traditional notion of a wife being “in her husband’s house.”
