Shehu Sani Denounces Trump’s Racist ‘Garbage’ Comments on Somalia
Former Nigerian lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has publicly and strongly criticized United States President Donald Trump for remarks he described as racist and unacceptable regarding the nation of Somalia.
Dependable NG reports that Sani specifically asserted that it is unconscionable and undoubtedly racist for a world leader to refer to a dignified people as “garbage” and to claim that their entire country “stinks.”
In a post shared on his X handle on Wednesday, the former lawmaker argued that Trump’s language directed at Somalia is actually worse than his previous controversial comments concerning Nigeria and South Africa.
Sani went on to accuse President Trump of showing a clear bias, noting that the U.S. leader offers “praises for oil-rich Arab Gulf states and slander for sub-Saharan Black countries.”
He concluded by emphasizing the gravity of the President’s statement: “What Trump said about Somalia is actually worse than what he said about Nigeria and South Africa. How can a world leader call a dignified people ‘garbage’ and even say their country ‘stinks’? This is unconscionable and undoubtedly racist. Praises for oil-rich Arab Gulf states and slander for sub-Saharan Black countries is unacceptable.”
