Senator Ned Nwoko, the Nigerian politician and husband to actress Regina Daniels, has caused a major stir by publicly defending his practice of polygamy during a television appearance. Nwoko’s comments, where he declared that “having one wife is like standing on one leg,” come amidst a widely reported marital crisis with his fourth wife, Regina Daniels.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Sunday night, the politician expressed sympathy for men who choose to have only one wife. He justified his decision to be polygamous by referencing the need for stability, explaining, “Just imagine telling you to stand on one leg, you know how difficult it is. But it is much more balanced to stand on two, three, or four.” He concluded by asserting he has “no regrets” and would “do the same thing again.”

The crisis became visible after a viral video online showed Regina Daniels accusing the lawmaker of domestic violence. Nwoko immediately countered this allegation by publicly accusing the actress of substance abuse, stating that her current problems were rooted in a “battle with drugs and alcohol abuse” and urging her to seek rehabilitation.
The divorce rumours surrounding the couple were further fuelled on Sunday evening when Regina Daniels posted a picture of herself on the balcony of a newly acquired residence, which is widely speculated to be a new house in Lagos State. The picture was captioned with the pointed statement, “I needed a roof over my head,” raising strong insinuations that she had moved out of her marital home to assert her independence. This new development intensifies the public debate over the six-year marriage, which has long been a subject of scrutiny due to the significant age gap between the couple.
