Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has provided a vivid account of her colleagues’ reactions in the Senate chamber when her invitation letter to the inauguration of constituency projects in Kogi State was read during plenary on Thursday.

Dependable NG reports that the Senator’s letter, which was read aloud by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, was interpreted by many as an olive branch extended to the Red Chamber’s leadership following her recent suspension. In a post shared on her official Facebook page on Friday, Natasha detailed the emotional responses the reading of her letter elicited from the lawmakers.

The Senator noted the palpable irony of the moment, recalling that Akpabio, the very man who presided over her suspension and whose allies had pushed for her seat to be declared vacant, “stood at the podium and read aloud my elegantly crafted invitation.”

According to the lawmaker, the chamber immediately “erupted in applause.” She observed that senators from across all political divides clapped their hands, with “Some laughed at the irony. Others wiped tears.” She then noted the Senate President’s reaction, stating, “Akpabio smiled genuinely, it seemed.” She concluded her observation by describing her own posture in the chamber during the highly charged moment: “And Natasha? She sat poised, radiant, unbowed.”
