Newly released photographs show Avinatan Or, one of the Israeli hostages freed from the Gaza Strip on Monday, appearing visibly thin, frail, and malnourished after spending more than two years in Hamas captivity.

Dependable NG reports that images released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) captured Or being handed over to Israeli troops inside Gaza. The photos show him wearing a quasi-military uniform similar to those that Hamas has reportedly forced other released hostages to wear.

Or has since been transferred to the IDF’s Re’im base, where he is undergoing initial medical evaluations before being reunited with his family.

Or was abducted on October 7, 2023, from the Nova music festival, alongside his girlfriend, Noa Argamani. Argamani’s rescue by Israeli forces in June 2024 drew significant international attention. A video of Or and Argamani’s kidnapping, released by Hamas during the initial October 7 attacks, became one of the most recognized symbols of the atrocities committed that day. Until his release today, Or had not been seen in any further footage since that initial video circulated in 2023.
