The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has swiftly moved to discredit allegations of signature forgery levelled against it by the party’s own National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu. The NWC insists that Senator Anyanwu personally authorised and signed the official communication sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concerning the party’s forthcoming national convention.

The internal dispute comes ahead of a crucial national convention scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November, a gathering expected to address critical party leadership issues.

Dependable NG reports that the denial was formally issued during a press conference in Abuja on Monday by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba. Mr. Ologunagba categorically stated that Anyanwu personally affixed his signature to multiple official documents, including the letter specifically notifying INEC of the dates for the convention, which are slated for November 15 and 16.

The National Publicity Secretary further disclosed key timing details to substantiate the NWC’s position. He stressed that these official letters were signed by Senator Anyanwu hours before the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which was held on August 25. This timeline suggests that the documents were signed during the normal course of duty and before any potential fallout or escalation of the internal leadership conflicts. The NWC is therefore asserting that there is concrete evidence to refute the claims of forgery and that the National Secretary’s allegations are without merit.
