The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a stern caution to corps members nationwide, urging them to strictly adhere to established rules and regulations and refrain from resorting to self-help or unlawful conduct during or after their mandatory service year.

The warning was delivered by the Bauchi State Coordinator of the NYSC, Umoren Kufre, on Friday, during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 corps members at the permanent orientation camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.

Addressing the assembled corps members, Kufre emphasized the importance of discipline and due process. “I urge you to obey all rules and regulations guiding the NYSC. If you observe any irregularity, do not take the laws into your hands,” he cautioned. He stressed the necessity of utilizing official means for conflict resolution, stating: “Always use the appropriate channels of communication to express your grievances.”

He also used the opportunity to publicly commend Governor Bala Mohammed for his continuous and robust support to the NYSC scheme, specifically citing the recent renovation of corps members’ hostels and the construction of a new multipurpose hall on the camp premises. Kufre, however, made an appeal to the Governor for the reconstruction of a section of the perimeter fence that collapsed approximately a year ago, underscoring its importance for camp security.
