NSCDC Nabs Four Motorcycle Thieves in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kano Command has announced the successful apprehension of four men allegedly involved in the theft of motorcycles across different parts of the state. This operational success targets the persistent issue of motorcycle theft, which remains a significant security challenge in urban areas.

The arrests were confirmed in a statement released by the command’s spokesman, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, on behalf of the State Commandant. Operatives of the NSCDC picked up the suspects in targeted operations conducted along Ahmad Musa Road, Hotoro GRA, and within Medile quarters in both Tarauni and Kumbotso local government areas.

The four individuals arrested were identified as Abubakar Abubakar (30), Abdullahi A. Abdulhamid (45), Muktar Abubakar (20), and Abdulwahab Muhammad (20).

The statement detailed the circumstances of the separate arrests, highlighting the role of vigilant citizens. In one incident, the suspects caught along Hotoro GRA had successfully unlocked a motorcycle and put it in motion when they were intercepted by good Samaritans. Officers were quickly alerted and arrived to secure the arrest.

In another operation at Medile quarters, the suspects were caught after allegedly stealing a motorcycle while the owner was observing prayers inside a local mosque. The quick response from the community led to their capture and subsequent transfer to the NSCDC office.

As evidence, the Corps recovered two motorcycles: a Lifan motorcycle and a Vespa. The NSCDC confirmed that investigations into the organized thefts have been concluded swiftly, and all four suspects have now been formally charged to court to face criminal prosecution. This swift judicial action underscores the command’s commitment to curbing the activities of motorcycle theft syndicates in Kano State.
