In a major upset in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), Warri Wolves Football Club of Warri secured a crucial 2-1 victory over the Aba-based side, Enyimba International FC, on Sunday. The match, played in Aba, left the home fans deeply disappointed as the Peoples’ Elephant recorded their third consecutive match without a win.

Dependable NG reports that Enyimba missed numerous scoring opportunities throughout the game, a situation that drew the ire of their supporters. Warri Wolves opened the scoring in the 17th minute, but Enyimba quickly responded ten minutes later, with Edidiong Ezikiel netting the equaliser in the 27th minute.

The decisive moment came in the 66th minute when Warri Wolves scored their second goal, which proved to be the winning strike. The visiting team successfully defended their lead until the final whistle, ensuring they carted away all three points.

This defeat extends Enyimba’s winless streak, following a goalless draw (0-0) against Rivers United in Aba and a 1-0 loss to NPFL newcomers Kun Khalifat in Owerri.

Reacting to the team’s poor run of form, several disappointed Enyimba fans, including Igwe Sabastine, Mike Uzoma, and Chinyere Nduka, pointed to a lack of clinical finishing in front of goal as the primary reason for the team’s struggles. In a related fixture, Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia also suffered a defeat, losing 2-0 to Shooting Stars of Ibadan.
