Nollywood Star Etinosa Idemudia: Acting Is ‘Mad People’s Work,’ More Tasking Than Engineering

Nigerian actress and qualified engineer, Etinosa Idemudia, has sparked a professional debate by asserting that her current career in acting is more challenging and demanding than her previous role in engineering.
Dependable NG reports that the actress, who holds a degree in Computer Engineering and worked in the oil and gas sector, shared her perspective during a recent interview on the Bold Enough To Say It podcast. Based on her experience in both professions, Idemudia stated that the demands placed on an actor are more intense, even going so far as to describe acting as “mad people’s work.”
In an effort to validate the dedication of her colleagues, she publicly defended the profession against being looked down upon, specifically by those with conventional office jobs. “I have been an engineer and I have been an actor, no offence to my colleagues in the engineering world but I dare say that being an actor is much more tasking. It’s a crazy kind of work. It’s a mad people’s work,” she expressed.
The Nollywood star concluded by urging her fellow movie practitioners not to allow individuals from other careers to demean their highly demanding art form. She stated, “Don’t let those people that close by five PM to come and be insulting us,” emphasizing the difference between the structured hours of engineering and the relentless, emotionally taxing nature of film production.
