Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel representing the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, reportedly collapsed while being held at Kuje Prison. Following this serious incident, Ejimakor was swiftly moved to the Kuje Medical Centre, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Dependable NG reports that the information was confirmed to the media on Saturday by Maxwell Opara, one of Kanu’s legal team members. When asked to verify the collapse, Opara stated, “Yes, I went to see him and he was admitted at Kuje medical centre where they are treating him and I left about some few hours ago.”

Opara recounted the timing, noting, “The thing happened before I came and we arrived there around 12 and I started hearing the news.” He explained that as a colleague and one of Ejimakor’s lawyers, he insisted on seeing him. “I saw Sowore and others before they took me to go and see him,” Opara added.

This health crisis occurred shortly after the presiding judge of the Kuje Magistrate Court, Abubakar Umar Sai’id, refused to sign the bail bond necessary for Ejimakor’s release.

The Special Counsel was apprehended on Monday alongside twelve other individuals, including Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu. Their arrests took place during a ‘free Nnamdi Kanu’ protest held in Abuja. Following their detention by the Nigeria Police Force, Ejimakor and the others were arraigned before the Magistrate Court in Kuje.
