Nigerian Army Rescues Nine Kidnap Victims in Kwara State Community

Nine citizens who were recently abducted from Matokun community in the Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State have been successfully rescued by troops. The operation was carried out by soldiers from the 22 Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army, deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Patigi, bringing relief to the affected community and local government area.
Dependable NG reports that the rescued victims, whose identities were not immediately disclosed, were safely handed over to the Patigi Local Government Council. The council chairman, who received the victims through his representative, the Speaker Mohammed Usman Alhaji, immediately arranged for the individuals to be conveyed to a private hospital for essential medical attention and recovery following their traumatic experience in captivity.
The 22 Armoured Brigade, based in Sobi, reaffirmed its unyielding commitment to guaranteeing the security and safety of lives and property across Kwara State. The Brigade further assured all residents that rigorous efforts to locate and rescue any remaining kidnapped victims would be sustained until lasting peace and stability are fully restored throughout the state, often referred to as the State of Harmony. Speaking on behalf of the people of Patigi Local Government, Mohammed Gana Alhaji publicly expressed deep gratitude to the troops for their relentless dedication to combating insecurity and protecting communities within the volatile area. This successful rescue follows a period of heightened tension in the region, including a deadly bandit attack on September 23, 2025, which saw a pregnant woman killed, several people injured, and eight residents initially abducted from the same Matokun community.
