In a swift operation following a road crash, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has seized 112kg of cannabis sativa. The drugs, packaged in 150 blocks and three loose sacks, were recovered from a vehicle involved in an accident on the Zaria-Kano highway. The incident, which occurred around 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, near Gadar Tamburawa, was detailed in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari. NDLEA operatives on patrol responded to the crash, which involved a Volkswagen Golf and a truck. During the rescue effort, a passenger from the Golf attempted to flee but was apprehended.A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the illicit substance. The driver, who is currently receiving medical treatment, reportedly confessed to working as a courier for the consignor and having made similar deliveries in the past. He also admitted to driving on a one-way route to evade NDLEA checkpoints, which led to the collision.
