Momodu: Only Atiku Is Competitive Enough to Unseat Tinubu in 2027
Dele Momodu, a key chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has voiced a strong opinion regarding the 2027 presidential election, asserting that only former Vice President Atiku Abubakar possesses the necessary understanding of what it takes to be competitive enough to remove President Bola Tinubu from office.
Dependable NG reports that Momodu, a veteran journalist, publicly criticized the entire opposition camp for its failure to unite and agree upon a common strategy for challenging the incumbent administration in 2027. Writing on his Facebook page, he emphatically insisted that the opposition is simply not ready for the upcoming election cycle.
He expressed skepticism over the ambition of other aspirants: “I often wonder how some opposition presidential aspirants can think of knocking out President Bola Tinubu in 2027 (that’s barely one year away) when they have not even come together to agree on a common strategy.” He stressed that running for the highest office is a serious undertaking, not a “child’s play.”
Momodu singled out Atiku Abubakar as the only opposition figure demonstrating the necessary commitment and strategy. He noted that Atiku, who is meticulously and practically pursuing his dreams (which would be his seventh attempt), “seems to understand what it takes to be competitive.”
He warned that defeating a determined incumbent like President Tinubu will require more than just appeal on social media. According to Momodu, a winning strategy demands a “stupendous war chest (some gambling is involved), extensive and nationwide structures, religious balancing, and overwhelming support from ethnic groups.”
Momodu concluded his post by dismissing the readiness of most other opposition figures, stating: “As for me and my house, many of the opposition figures are just not ready. It is either they’ve given up on their dreams or they don’t mind Tinubu continuing with this charade of a government.”
