Lagos Re-Arraigns Ex-Kidnapper Evans for Alleged Murder of Police Officers

The Lagos State Government on Monday re-arraigned convicted billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, before the Lagos High Court in Ikeja over the alleged murder of two police officers.
Dependable NG reports that Evans appeared in court alongside his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, to face a five-count charge that includes murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. Dependable NG reports that the charges relate to the alleged killing of two police officers and the attempted kidnapping of a prominent businessman in 2013.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them before Justice A.O. Ogala.
Evans, who is notorious for high-profile kidnappings, is currently facing multiple criminal cases involving kidnapping and murder in the state, having already been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in two of those cases. The re-arraignment on this fresh charge comes just days after President Bola Tinubu granted presidential clemency to some convicted criminals across the country, a move which has drawn widespread criticism.
