Lagos Fire Service Rescues Woman from 60-Foot Deep Uncovered Well

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service accomplished a “miraculous” rescue operation on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, saving a 32-year-old woman who had accidentally plunged into an uncovered well approximately 60 feet deep at No. 14 Mustapha Bolatiwa Street, off Agric Bus Stop, in the Ikorodu area of the state.
Dependable NG reports that the incident drew a large crowd of onlookers, many of whom described the woman’s survival as nothing short of a miracle. Eyewitnesses suggested the woman, whose identity was not immediately confirmed, had wandered from a nearby compound and was seated on the edge of the well before losing her balance and falling in.
Following a distress call, operatives of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service rapidly mobilized and launched a delicate and coordinated rescue effort.
The Director of the agency, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the incident, stating that the woman was successfully pulled out alive. “She was immediately stabilised and transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care,” Adeseye confirmed.
Adeseye used the incident to caution Lagos residents on the imperative need to ensure all open wells and similar structures are securely covered to prevent such avoidable accidents. She concluded by commending her team’s professionalism and prompt response, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Lagos State.
