Lagos APC Slams Atiku’s Camp, Says Tinubu’s Pardon Decisions Guided by Law, Not ‘Weaponized Ignorance’
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sharply criticised the latest comments from the camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar regarding the recent presidential clemency granted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The APC described the statement from Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Phrank Shaibu, as a “cocktail of ignorance, frustration, and political bitterness from a camp desperate for attention.”
Dependable NG reports that the party strongly challenged Atiku’s media team to “stop weaponizing ignorance,” affirming that Tinubu’s leadership style is strictly guided by law and due process, not emotion. Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the spokesman for the Lagos APC, conveyed this stance, advising the former Vice President’s camp that “leadership is not noise but responsibility.”
Oladejo countered the opposition’s labelling of the reviewed clemency list as a “pardon U-turn.” He argued that unlike the “impulsive and uninformed commentary” characteristic of the opposition, President Tinubu’s decisions are consistently driven by the rule of law, due process, and national interest. He further suggested that in advanced democracies, the informed review and reconsideration of policy are marks of credible leadership and institutional maturity, not weakness.
The spokesman maintained that the notion that constitutional refinement and consultation translate to a “U-turn” exists “only in the shallow corners of the opposition’s imagination.” Oladejo insisted that Nigeria deserves better than desperation politics, stating that the Nigerian public is weary of this “infantile, bitterness-driven politics” where sound governance decisions are attacked solely for the sake of making noise. He asserted that President Tinubu is focused on strengthening institutions, not “pandering to emotion or social media theatrics.” The Lagos APC urged Nigerians to ignore what it termed the “latest media convulsions from a defeated politician’s corner,” guaranteeing that President Tinubu will continue to lead with constitutional discipline and clarity of purpose, regardless of the political tantrums thrown by those repeatedly rejected at the polls.
