Lagos APC Dismisses ‘Ethnic Politics’ as a Threat to Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emphatically stated that playing the card of ethnic politics will not be enough to stop President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Dependable NG reports that the State APC Spokesman, Seye Oladejo, issued a statement on Saturday in reaction to advice given by a former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu. Momodu had suggested that opposition parties should consolidate their efforts and leverage ethnic sentiments in 2027 as a strategy to defeat the incumbent President.
Oladejo countered the suggestion by applauding Momodu for what he termed an admission of the “obvious,” asserting that President Bola Tinubu remains “politically unstoppable.”
He strongly cautioned against the use of tribal divisions as a political tool. “Let it be known that the days of weaponising ethnicity as a shortcut to power are long gone,” Oladejo stated. He argued that the Nigerian electorate has matured and is now focused on proven ability to deliver results, rather than on figures who seek to divide the nation.
“Nigerians know better. They know that leadership is earned through vision, performance, and consistency – not through editorials written from the sidelines of social gigs,” the APC image maker added.
According to Oladejo, Nigeria is currently being fundamentally rebuilt under President Tinubu’s administration on a foundation of equity, inclusion, and reform, which encompasses broad infrastructural renewal, economic stabilisation, and social investment. He concluded by advising Dele Momodu to concentrate on redefining his own political path before attempting to counsel other political figures.
