Kwara: 25-Year-Old Man Murdered in Ilorin Following Fatal Dispute Over Girlfriend

Tragedy struck the Oja Gboro Quarters of Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, when a heated argument between two friends over a romantic interest escalated into a fatal stabbing. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Hammed Usman Tunde, was allegedly killed by his close companion, Gafar, following the violent disagreement.

Dependable NG reports that the shocking incident occurred on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, while the two men were patronising a local Hausa sugarcane vendor in Oja Gboro Quarters. Despite being described as close friends, eyewitness accounts confirmed that the minor argument quickly spiralled out of control and turned violent. During the confrontation, the 21-year-old suspect, identified only as Gafar, reportedly stabbed Tunde in the chest with a knife, delivering a wound that would prove fatal.

The victim, a resident of Ile-Soro 2 in the Oja Gboro, Isale Koko area of Ilorin, was immediately rushed to a nearby private healthcare facility. Due to the severity of the injury, he was subsequently referred to the General Hospital, Ilorin, but was tragically confirmed dead upon arrival. The suspect, Gafar, who is a native of Ile Olowo in the same locality, fled the scene instantly after the attack. At the time of this report, both his whereabouts and those of his family members remain unknown, suggesting a deliberate attempt to evade capture by authorities.

A female relative of the deceased expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the incident as heartbreaking and making a desperate plea to both the state government and security agencies to ensure that justice is thoroughly served in the case. She described her late brother as a fundamentally peaceful person who did not deserve to have his life ended in such a cruel and violent manner. Following Islamic tradition, the deceased was buried on Wednesday at his family residence, Ile-Soro 2, located in the Oja Gboro, Isale Koko area of Ilorin, bringing a solemn end to a life tragically cut short by passion and violence.
