A political coalition in Kogi State, operating under the name Kogi Alliance for Renewed Hope (KARH), has publicly condemned the recent statements made by Senator Sunday Steve Karimi (Kogi West) regarding a massive pro-President Bola Ahmed Tinubu endorsement rally held in Lokoja last week. The group firmly reiterated the state’s voluntary and overwhelming support for the President ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a strong-worded statement released on Monday, signed by KARH President Toba Ogundele and Secretary Idris Abubakar, the coalition branded the Senator’s remarks as “misguided and inconsistent with the political mood in Kogi State.”

Dependable NG reports that the group explicitly dismissed Senator Karimi’s central allegation that citizens were being “bullied” or coerced into supporting the Tinubu administration. Instead, KARH insisted that the substantial turnout at the rally represented nothing less than a “voluntary expression of confidence” in the President’s leadership and his policies.

The statement emphatically declared, “The people of Kogi State are not under any pressure to support President Tinubu. Their continued loyalty comes from visible improvements in infrastructure, fair appointments, and renewed federal attention to the state.” The coalition highlighted that the rally, which saw community leaders and party supporters converging from all three senatorial districts, was a true symbol of grassroots unity rather than political manipulation, a counter-narrative to the Senator’s claims.

KARH expressed disappointment that a serving senator would choose to “portray the enthusiasm of his constituents as forced,” asserting that many of the ongoing road projects and empowerment initiatives in Kogi are “direct outcomes of the current administration’s policies.”

The coalition concluded that residents across the state, “From Lokoja to Okene, Kabba to Ankpa,” consistently “understand and appreciate” the federal government’s developmental focus and would not be swayed by divisive political rhetoric as the 2027 electoral cycle approaches. They urged political actors in the state to rise above divisive comments and work collaboratively to maintain Kogi’s relevance within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasising that “Political differences should not overshadow the collective interest of progress and development.”
