The release was necessitated by various systemic challenges, including stalled prosecutions, missing case files, and long delays in legal proceedings. According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Kano Command, Musbahu Lawan, the Chief Judge emphasized the need for closer collaboration among law enforcement and judicial bodies to ensure the timely dispensation of justice.
