Jos South Tragedy: Kidnapped Man’s Decomposed Body Found in Mining Pond

The Plateau State Police Command is currently investigating a grim discovery following the recovery of the decomposed body of a man previously reported as kidnapped. The corpse was found floating in a mining pond in the Farin Lamba community of Jos South Local Government Area.

Dependable NG reports that the disturbing find was made around 4 p.m. on Friday after local residents alerted the police. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Kaduna Vom Division promptly led a team to the scene.

The deceased was identified as Mr. Cyril Nilanda, a resident of the NITR Quarters in Vom. Nilanda had been abducted from his home on September 30, 2025, and had been missing since the incident.

Due to the decomposed state of the body, it is being prepared for evacuation and a comprehensive forensic examination, which authorities hope will provide crucial evidence to aid the investigation.

The police have assured the public that dedicated efforts are in progress to identify, trace, and apprehend the individuals responsible for the abduction and eventual killing of the victim.
