Israeli President Herzog, Hostage Families Rally Behind Trump’s Gaza Plan

Support for the new Gaza peace proposal put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump is gaining significant traction, with both Israeli President Isaac Herzog and a major forum representing hostage families publicly endorsing the initiative on Monday, September 29, 2025.
President Herzog utilized the social media platform X to express his strong support for the diplomatic effort, specifically congratulating Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his collaboration with Washington on the plan. Herzog urged international leaders to exert pressure on the terrorist organization Hamas to accept the terms immediately.
In his post, Herzog wrote: “Now the entire world must set a clear and immediate condition, that the terrorist organization Hamas agree to the plan set out by President Trump, and allow a future of hope for the peoples of the region.”
Crucially, the Tikva Forum, which represents hardline families of hostages and fallen soldiers, also threw its weight behind the proposal. The group stated that the plan aligns directly with their core demand for the simultaneous return of all abductees.
The Forum emphasized the humanitarian aspect of the proposal in their statement: “The living will return to their families, and the dead will be returned to be buried in Israel.” Furthermore, the group asserted that the peace initiative guarantees the decisive end of Hamas’s rule in Gaza, thereby removing the security threat the organization poses to Israel.
These powerful endorsements from Israel’s head of state and a key victims’ advocacy group contribute to the growing international momentum for Trump’s proposal. The plan has already secured backing from several key European nations, including France and Italy, all of whom are seeking a durable ceasefire, the release of all captives, and guaranteed, secure humanitarian access for the civilian population in Gaza.
