Inflation Drop: Tinubu’s Aide Mocks Peter Obi, ‘Obidients’ Over Sustained Economic Criticism

The recent report of a significant and consecutive decline in Nigeria’s inflation rate has triggered a sharp response from the Presidency, with President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, directly mocking former Anambra Governor Peter Obi and his supporters, the Obidients.
Dependable NG reports that the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced on Tuesday that Nigeria’s headline inflation had dropped to 18.02 per cent in September 2025, down from 20.12 per cent in August. This figure marks the sixth consecutive monthly decline in the nation’s headline inflation.
Reacting to the positive economic data, Bayo Onanuga took to his official Facebook page to lambast Peter Obi—the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election—and his political base.
Onanuga wrote: “Inflation recorded its most significant crash in September, falling from 20.12% to 18.02%. This is the sixth consecutive month that inflation has been declining. Peter Obi and his Obidient mob will never acknowledge this positive development in the economy. Never!”
The statement underscores the continued political tension between the Presidency and the opposition. Peter Obi has been a vocal critic of the current administration, consistently arguing that the government’s policies have plunged Nigerians into untold economic hardship.
