Guwor Hails Security Trust Fund as Strategic Milestone for Delta’s Prosperity

The Delta State Security Trust Fund, a critical instrument established to fortify the state’s security apparatus, has been emphatically described as a bold and forward-thinking initiative by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable Dennis Guwor. The Speaker’s commendation follows the formal unveiling of the Fund by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, a move he hailed as both timely and strategically significant for the promotion of peace, stability, prosperity, and good governance across the entire state. The legislature is firmly behind the Executive, reaffirming its unwavering support for policies and programmes that actively advance the safety and overall welfare of all Deltans, according to a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke.
Dependable NG reports that the establishment of this fund is rooted in a law previously enacted by the Delta State Assembly, explicitly designed to mobilize much-needed resources from the private sector to significantly complement the state government’s substantial investments in security infrastructure and operations. The Speaker was quick to stress the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring rigorous legislative backing and crucial oversight functions, which are necessary to guarantee utmost transparency, accountability, and the most efficient utilisation of the Delta State Security Trust Fund. This vigilance will assure the public that every contribution is judiciously spent on securing the state’s environment.
Guwor particularly lauded Governor Oborevwori for his exemplary and visionary leadership, citing the launch as a potent testament to the Governor’s dedication to comprehensively addressing existing security challenges and actively cultivating an enabling environment where businesses can truly thrive without fear. “The launch of the Security Trust Fund is a testament to the Governor’s dedication to addressing security challenges in our state and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive,” the Speaker stated, reflecting the legislative branch’s optimism for the initiative’s success. He further emphasised that this development is not merely a political event but “marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to protect lives, property, and economic investments in Delta State.”
The Speaker strongly emphasized the shared nature of security responsibility, issuing a resonant call to all major corporate organisations, international development partners, and patriotic, well-meaning individuals to step forward and provide robust support for the initiative. This collective approach, he argued, is vital for constructing a genuinely secure and prosperous Delta State for everyone. Guwor specifically singled out the landmark donation of ₦10 billion by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo and Chairman of Tantita Security Services, describing it as an inspiring example of broad-based public confidence and commitment. He expressed deep optimism that this generous gesture would attract many more significant contributions from various stakeholders across all sectors of the economy. The Assembly, as the people’s representatives, fully recognises that “security is the bedrock of sustainable development,” and this fund is the critical mechanism that will provide “the much-needed support to our security agencies, enabling them to operate more effectively and respond swiftly to emerging threats.” The Speaker concluded his remarks by assuring Deltans of the Assembly’s sustained commitment to legislative support and careful oversight, ultimately pledging that, working collaboratively with the executive arm, they can succeed in making Delta a model of safety and peace for the entire nation.
