Dependable NG reports that the young woman was in deep emotional distress due to the persistent pressure from her family to proceed with the arranged marriage. She was reportedly in love with another person of her own choice and had clearly communicated her unwillingness to accept the marriage partner selected by her father.

Bukar Fantami Gubio, a local child protection volunteer, confirmed the heartbreaking incident, describing it as entirely preventable.
