Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has firmly declared that political blackmail and criticism from opponents will not derail the ongoing transformation of the state. He made the statement in response to the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), which has criticized the ₦100 billion loan recently approved for his administration by the State House of Assembly.

Dependable NG reports that Governor Alia delivered his rebuttal through a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula. A reporter for Dependable NG noted that the Governor remains focused on his mission of transparent governance, infrastructural renewal, and prioritizing the welfare of the Benue people.

Governor Alia insisted that the loan would be responsibly managed and invested only in projects that directly improve lives, enhance productivity, and restore Benue’s status as the Food Basket of the Nation.

He directly addressed the opposition’s claims, stating, “Contrary to the PDP propaganda, Benue’s debt profile remains within sustainable limits, and every kobo of the ₦100 billion facility will be tied to verifiable and people-oriented Projects.”

The Governor further pointed out that the unanimous approval of the loan by the House of Assembly reflects an understanding of the critical infrastructural deficit inherited by his administration and a clear confidence in his capacity to deliver. He concluded by urging the PDP to set aside its “bitterness” and accept that Benue is now firmly on a path of responsible governance.
