Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has given a significant assurance to teachers in the state, declaring that “your reward is no longer in heaven; it is here, under our watch.” This promise was made on Wednesday during the presentation of permanent appointment letters to 5,000 newly employed teachers.

Dependable NG reports that Governor Okpebholo personally supervised the presentation ceremony, emphasizing the importance of the occasion and his administration’s commitment to properly valuing its educators. The ceremony saw 4,500 teachers previously on contract under the former EdoStar programme, along with 500 newly recruited teachers, officially absorbed into the State Ministry of Education as permanent staff.

The Governor expressed his determination to ensure the teachers received their letters promptly. “I wanted it this way, because, I had asked several times if you had received your letters. The answer was no. So, I decided to supervise the process myself,” he said. To further demonstrate the administration’s commitment, Governor Okpebholo announced that the teachers would also receive transport fare in consideration of the long distances many of them travelled to attend the ceremony.
