Gospel Singer Nathaniel Bassey Reveals His Wife Endured Five Miscarriages, Ectopic Pregnancy

Renowned Nigerian gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey, has shared an intimate and emotional testimony, revealing that his wife endured the pain of five miscarriages, including an ectopic pregnancy, even as he led his widely streamed “Hallelujah Challenge” worship sessions.
The singer disclosed this poignant struggle in the early hours of Friday while leading the ongoing October 2025 edition of the “Hallelujah Challenge.” A reporter for Dependable NG noted that Bassey is married to Sarah, and they have been together since 2013.
Bassey revealed the profound personal challenge of maintaining his ministry in public while facing deep sorrow at home. He explained that there were times he would immediately leave the online streaming session and head straight to his wife’s bedside in the hospital where she had been admitted.
“My wife will have to forgive me. Do you know there were times during the Hallelujah Challenge when we had a miscarriage, and nobody knew? I would still come online to praise and dance,” Bassey emotionally recounted.
He detailed the gravity of their ordeal: “A few years ago, she was in the hospital with an ectopic pregnancy. I would leave, lead praise and worship online, then return to the hospital, and the nurses attending to her would tell me, ‘It was powerful tonight.’ Not one, not two, not three or four pregnancies, but five.”
The ongoing October edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, a viral streaming worship session, runs for 25 days, from October 7 to 31, with each day’s session commencing at 11:59 pm. The singer said he felt compelled to share the story to encourage those who believe ministers of God do not face trials, adding that sometimes, the burden of pain is misunderstood.
