Galadima Raban Nupe, Gov. Bago’s Aide, Passes Away After Brief Illness

Alhaji Gimba Abubakar, the esteemed Galadima Raban Nupe and Coordinator of Chieftaincy Affairs to Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, has passed away. His death, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 27, 2025, has sent shockwaves through the state government and the traditional institution.

Family sources confirmed that the late Abubakar died shortly after being taken to the hospital for a short illness. Relatives expressed disbelief over the suddenness of his demise, noting that he had shown no significant signs of ill health the previous day. “He was in good health on Friday, carrying out his usual activities without any sign of sickness. He left for the hospital on his own this morning only for us to be informed later that he is dead,” one of the relatives stated, underscoring the unexpected nature of the tragedy.

In a formal condolence message, Governor Bago expressed his profound sadness over the loss of his aide. Released by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the message extended deep sympathies to the paramount ruler, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, and the entire family of the deceased.

Governor Bago paid tribute to the late Galadima, describing him as a highly disciplined and dedicated man who consistently stood for principles of justice and integrity.
