Fire Guts Ogbomoso Local Government Secretariat Building, Millions in Property Destroyed

A fire incident at the Ogbomoso Local Government Secretariat building in Oyo State on Thursday resulted in the destruction of properties estimated to be worth millions of naira.

Dependable NG reports that the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the unfortunate incident in a statement made available on Thursday night. The Fire Service swift action prevented the blaze from causing widespread damage to the entire complex.

Akinwande stated that the fire service personnel responded promptly to the distress call. “Upon arrival, we met the incinerator machine on fire, well alighted and we swiftly swung into action, the fire was curtailed and restricted from spreading to other nearby buildings and properties,” he confirmed. The fire chairman assured the public that “No casualty was recorded” during the inferno. He added that the cause of the fire incident was yet to be established, and a post-fire investigation is currently ongoing to ascertain the root cause of the incident.
