Federal, State, and Local Governments Share N2.103 Trillion Federation Account Revenue for September

The Federal Government, states, and local government councils collectively shared a total sum of N2.103 trillion as the Federation Account Revenue for September 2025. This figure was publicly disclosed in a communiqué signed by Bawa Mokwa, spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, following the October 2025 Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting held in Abuja on Friday.
Dependable NG reports that the total amount distributed shows a slight decrease compared to the N2.2 trillion shared in August 2025. The N2.103 trillion total distributable revenue was derived from three main components: a distributable statutory revenue of N1.239 trillion, distributable Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue amounting to N812.593 billion, and N51.684 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL).
The FAAC communiqué highlighted that the overall gross revenue available in September 2025 was N3.054 trillion. This total was reduced by N116.149 billion for the cost of collection and N835.005 billion for various transfers, interventions, refunds, and savings, leaving the N2.103 trillion to be shared among the tiers of government.
The breakdown of the total distributable revenue indicates that the Federal Government received N711.314 billion, the State Governments received N727.170 billion, and the Local Government Councils received N529.954 billion. Additionally, the oil-producing states received N134.956 billion as their 13% derivation revenue.
Drilling down into the revenue streams, the gross statutory revenue of N2.128 trillion for September 2025 was N710.134 billion less than the N2.838 trillion received in August 2025. Conversely, the gross revenue from VAT stood at N872.630 billion, reflecting an increase of N150.011 billion over the N722.619 billion available in August 2025. Furthermore, the communiqué noted that Import Duty, Value Added Tax (VAT), and Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) experienced significant increases in September 2025, while Companies Income Tax (CIT) and CET Levies decreased considerably. Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) recorded a marginal increase, and Oil and Gas Royalty and Excise Duty saw marginal decreases.
