Ex-APC Spokesman Timi Frank Urges World Leaders to Recognize Bakary, Sanction Cameroon’s Biya

A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has intensified the pressure on the international community to intervene in the ongoing Cameroon presidential election dispute. Frank explicitly urged world leaders, including President Donald Trump, to recognize the opposition candidate, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, as the legitimate winner and impose sanctions on President Paul Biya’s regime.
Dependable NG reports that Frank issued the urgent call from Abuja on Tuesday, expressing grave concern over widespread allegations of the 92-year-old incumbent President Biya attempting to manipulate the election results to extend his four-decade rule. Bakary had earlier claimed victory following Monday’s polls, though the country’s official bodies have yet to announce the final outcome.
Citing polling unit results and region-by-region tallies that he claims clearly show Bakary’s victory, Frank emphasized that the voice of the Cameroonian people, expressed through the ballot, is under threat from an entrenched dictatorship. He strongly condemned the Biya regime’s alleged use of intimidation, harassment, and violence against citizens protesting the attempts to overturn the results.
Frank warned that any judicial manipulation of the election outcome could plunge the nation into an unprecedented crisis. “Paul Biya, at 92, remains Africa’s longest-serving leader. His refusal to relinquish power despite popular rejection is a mockery of democracy,” Frank stated. He stressed that Cameroon is already seeing unrest as the youth reject the manipulation attempts. He concluded by urging global leaders to act immediately, stating: “If the international community does not act now, what is happening in Cameroon may soon be replicated elsewhere, including Nigeria. The African Union must also act urgently. Silence is not neutrality — it is complicity.”
