Evangelist Uma Ukpai is Dead

The prominent international evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Uma Ukpai, is reportedly dead. The news began circulating widely on social media late Saturday, October 12, 2025.

Dependable NG reports that the widespread reports indicate Rev. Ukpai, a respected Christian leader and preacher from Nigeria, passed away on October 6, 2025. The speculation was initially triggered by a cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter) from Prophet Joel Ogebe, which read: “A giant has gone to be with the Lord. My father, my father, the chariot of Israel. Heaven rejoices. Uyo.”

Although the initial post did not mention any names, it quickly sparked reactions linking it to Rev. Ukpai, whose prominent non-denominational ministry is based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Shortly thereafter, the Christian platform Church Gist shared a direct message on Facebook reporting that the revered cleric had passed on. The post read: “A GENERAL TAKES A BOW! EVANGELIST UMA UKPAI HAS GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD. REST IN POWER, SIR.”

Rev. Ukpai was a key leader of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and built a ministry known for its citywide crusades and medical outreach. At the time of filing this report, no official statement or confirmation has been issued by his family or the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association.
