The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State is embarking on a massive restructuring drive, with the party’s Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, lauding the recent dissolution of the Ward and Local Government executive committees as a necessary and strategic move to revitalise the party.

Dependable NG reports that Dr. Ben Nwoye, who was recently inaugurated to head the caretaker committee, addressed journalists in Enugu on Monday, explaining that the dissolution was a key step toward strengthening and repositioning the APC for future political battles. The action was officially announced following a critical stakeholders’ meeting of the party in the Enugu West Senatorial District on Sunday.

The Chairman disclosed that the dissolution was not a punitive measure but was rather necessitated by a direct directive from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), following extensive consultations with key stakeholders at both the national and state levels. The goal, he stated, is to create an environment for a more inclusive and vibrant leadership structure that can successfully reinvigorate the party’s presence, particularly at the grassroots level.

Dr. Nwoye acknowledged the historical struggles of the party in the state, noting that the APC in Enugu had been plagued by internal divisions, intense factionalism, and prolonged leadership disputes, which significantly hampered its political standing in recent years. This new development, he stressed, offers the party a crucial opportunity to start afresh and present a unified front in preparation for upcoming elections.

“This dissolution is not a punishment; rather, it is a strategic move to rebuild the APC in Enugu State from bottom up,” Nwoye asserted. He emphasised the committee’s commitment to establishing a party structure that is truly representative of its members’ interests, one that will operate with inclusivity, transparency, and accountability. The move is widely seen as clearing the path for a massive political realignment in the state, aimed at making the APC a dominant force in Enugu politics.
