EFCC Arrests Three Suspected Vote Buyers During Anambra Governorship Election
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested no fewer than three individuals suspected of engaging in vote buying during the ongoing Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday. The arrests were made at different locations across the state while voting was still in progress.
Dependable NG reports that the anti-graft agency confirmed the identities and locations of the apprehended suspects. One suspect, Emeka Ilokasia, was arrested at Ward 2 in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state. Similarly, Nwachuwu Loretta was taken into custody at Ward 2 (008) in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area, while Emuka Chuwudi was apprehended at Umunachi village in Dukonukofia Local Government Area.
The EFCC stated on its official Facebook page that all the suspects were arrested while participating in the governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The anti-graft agency emphasized its commitment to stamping out electoral corruption, stating that the suspects “will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.” The arrests highlight the intensified monitoring efforts by security and anti-graft agencies to ensure the credibility of the governorship poll.
