The failed engagement between Nigerian disc jockey and billionaire heiress, Florence Otedola, famously known as DJ Cuppy, and British YouTuber and BMX rider, Ryan Taylor, has returned to the spotlight after Taylor offered startling new insights into their short-lived romance. Appearing on the Ladders Podcast, the 32-year-old influencer reflected on the relationship that spectacularly ended in 2023, revealing personal issues that he claims led to the collapse of their engagement.

Dependable NG reports that Taylor, who proposed to the Nigerian star in a whirlwind fashion in December 2022 after barely a month of dating, claimed that a significant distance grew between them due to what he alleged was DJ Cuppy’s disinclination towards her own people. In a surprising revelation, the YouTuber alleged that the entertainer showed a marked lack of interest in collaborating with Nigerians in professional settings. He was quoted saying, “Is it weird that I told you she didn’t like Nigerians? She came into my business and didn’t even want Nigerian staff.”

Taylor made a point of noting that there were no legally binding contracts or non-disclosure agreements that prevented him from speaking openly about their time together. He maintained that he walked away from the engagement having gained only valuable life lessons. “To be honest, what I got from that was lessons. Everything that happens, happens for a reason. But do I regret it? No. Lesson learned. Next!” Taylor said, summarising his perspective on the failed romance. He added a philosophical reflection on wealth, stating, “I learned that money is not everything, but not having it is.”
