Plateau State is reeling from a deadly ambush that claimed the life of a community youth leader. The attack, carried out by suspected armed militias, took place in Bokkos Local Government Area and has sent shockwaves throughout the community. The victim, 47-year-old Mr. Dabit Clement Joseph, also known as Chepti, was the Youth President of Horop District.
The ambush occurred on Thursday when a joint patrol team of soldiers, vigilantes, and hunters came under fire along the Horop–Laban–Nawala feeder road, a border route linking Plateau and Nasarawa states. Mr. Joseph was killed on the spot, and his body has since been evacuated to the morgue at Luna Hospital in Bokkos.
Police authorities have confirmed that investigations have begun, with security forces intensifying efforts to track down the perpetrators of the ambush. The community is in mourning, and there are calls for increased security measures to prevent such attacks in the future.
The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Plateau State and the need for effective measures to address the root causes of violence and militancy in the region. As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, hoping for justice and an end to the violence.
