Corruption and Incompetence: Inibehe Effiong Says Nigeria Will Never Fulfil Its Potential

Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has delivered a stark assessment of Nigeria’s future, suggesting that the nation is destined to fail to realize its true potential as long as it remains governed by corrupt and incompetent leaders.
Dependable NG reports that the lawyer shared his views in a post on X on Sunday, where he challenged Nigerians to directly confront what he described as a “rotten system.” Effiong dismissed any expectations that “criminally minded politicians” currently in power would spontaneously choose to reform themselves or begin working for the nation’s progress, labelling such hope as entirely delusional.
According to Effiong, the continued dominance of the country’s political landscape by what he termed “the worst among them” is the primary obstacle to progress.
Effiong’s direct commentary read: “Nigeria will never fulfill its true potentials as long as Nigerians continue to allow the worst among them to rule the country. The expectation that the criminals and criminally minded politicians who are ruining the country will someday become circumspect, and begin to work for the progress of Nigeria is delusional. We either confront this rotten system and those operating it or we live in perpetual servitude.”
The lawyer’s post underscored his belief that the nation faces a definitive choice: either challenge the entrenched system and the individuals running it, or accept a life of “perpetual servitude.”
