BREAKING: Bandits Attack Travelling Family In Niger State, Five Injured

Armed bandits have once again caused panic on a major highway in Niger State, opening fire on a travelling family and leaving five members with varying degrees of injuries. The terrifying incident is a sharp reminder of the persistent insecurity challenge along the state’s major road networks.
Dependable NG reports that the attack occurred around 4 p.m. on Sunday near Ehka Kuka/Audu Fari village, along the New-Bussa–Babanna road. The family members—identified as Alhaji Fatayi Raheemi (38), Fatima Nurudeen (27), Munirat Isyaka (25), Aishat Ismail (25), and Rashidat Fatayi (30)—were travelling in a Mercedes-Benz car from New-Bussa to Babanna town when the gunmen ambushed their vehicle. Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the attack on X, confirming that the bandits’ sustained shooting forced the car to veer off the road, which resulted in all occupants sustaining injuries.
According to residents, a swift response from security operatives saw the victims promptly evacuated to the Primary Health Centre in Babanna, where they are currently receiving necessary medical attention. The damaged vehicle has since been recovered and taken to the Babanna Police Station as the authorities confirm that efforts are actively underway to track down and apprehend the attackers responsible for the dastardly act. The ongoing security threat posed by bandits on Nigeria’s highways continues to be a major concern for commuters and security stakeholders across the country.
