Boris Johnson Rejects Negative Security Reports on Nigeria, Says He Feels ‘Perfectly Safe’
Former British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has publicly stated that he feels safe in Nigeria, directly contradicting the negative security reports he encountered prior to his visit to the country.
Dependable NG reports that Johnson made the comments during the Imo State Economic Summit 2025, which was held in Owerri, the state capital, on Thursday.
He shared his pre-travel concerns and current impression with the audience: “I want you to know that when I decided to come to Owerri, I read some things, and there were people saying, ‘There may be some security problems in Nigeria.’ Have you heard that? And I said, ‘Well, I am going to go anyway.’”
Johnson then asked the audience for their sentiment, affirming his own sense of safety: “And let me ask you: do you feel safe here today in this conference? Yes, we all feel safe. And I feel perfectly safe. Thank you, Governor, for what you are doing.”
The ex-Prime Minister also commended Governor Uzodimma for his commitment to providing 24-hour electricity for the people of Imo State, viewing it as a critical component for achieving economic transformation.
He added that artificial intelligence (AI) would play a major role in helping the governor realize that vision, describing AI as the future of development.
