Arsenal midfielder Max Dowman has cemented his name in football history by becoming the youngest player ever to feature in the UEFA Champions League, replacing Leandro Trossard as a 73rd-minute substitute against Slavia Prague on Tuesday.

Dependable NG reports that the English teenager reached the remarkable milestone at the age of 15 years and 308 days, becoming the first 15-year-old to play in Europe’s top club competition. This feat shatters the previous record held by Youssoufa Moukoko, who played for Borussia Dortmund against Zenit St Petersburg in 2020 at the age of 16 years and 18 days.

Dowman’s record-breaking Champions League appearance is the latest in a series of milestones for the young Gunner. The attacking midfielder also became the second-youngest player ever in the Premier League when he made his debut against Leeds United in August at 15 years and 235 days old. He only trails his teammate, Ethan Nwaneri, who set the Premier League record in 2022.

Furthermore, Dowman recently became the youngest-ever player to start a match for Arsenal when he was named in the starting lineup for the Gunners’ 2-0 victory over Brighton in the League Cup fourth round last week. Widely regarded as a generational talent, the 15-year-old’s rapid ascension through the youth ranks has seen him make a significant impact on the senior team this season.
