Army Thwarts Massive Chibok Attack

Nigerian Army troops successfully foiled a large-scale midnight assault on several Chibok communities in Borno State. Over three hundred terrorists launched a coordinated attack from multiple directions in the early hours of Saturday, but the military was prepared for the incursion.

The assault commenced at approximately 2:50 a.m., but soldiers from the 28 Task Force Brigade were already on high alert. They successfully detected the hostile movement before the numerous insurgents could advance deep into the area.

The troops swiftly moved into pre-determined battle positions and immediately engaged the attackers from several fortified fronts. A fierce exchange of fire ensued, lasting for more than two hours as the soldiers resolutely held their defensive lines.

This sustained defense proved successful, as the security forces prevented the terrorists from breaching the military perimeter and reaching the communities they targeted.

As daybreak approached, the insurgents began a disorderly and desperate withdrawal toward the Azir axis, a route that leads directly into the expansive Sambisa Forest. Their escape route involved attempting to cross the vital Damboa to Biu supply road.

The Army immediately activated a strategic plan, tasking the 25 Brigade to man pre-arranged ambush points around the Azir Bridge to trap the fleeing fighters. Their movements were constantly monitored from above with crucial support from a Nigerian Army unmanned aerial vehicle.

The air component of Operation Hadin Kai also provided immediate support by deploying a Super Tucano aircraft to reinforce the ground operation and provide air cover.

As the ground troops closed in on the escaping column, the terrorists were forced to scatter into smaller, more disorganized groups, and the soldiers successfully disrupted their planned escape routes. Officials confirmed that there were no troop casualties or equipment losses during the intense operation.

The Nigerian Army is continuing exploration operations around Chibok and is intensifying efforts to track all fleeing elements in the surrounding terrain to restrict their movement.

Furthermore, the Army has secured footage showing the mass withdrawal of the attackers after their failed assault, and this video evidence is currently under analysis for further intelligence-driven action. The Nigerian Army reiterated its full commitment to protecting the country’s territorial integrity and safeguarding all citizens.
