Army Rescues 27 Kidnap Victims in Benue, Kills 15 Terrorists Nationwide
The Nigerian Army has successfully rescued 27 passengers who were abducted by armed men in Amoda community, Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.
The victims regained freedom after troops of Operation Whirl Stroke launched a coordinated offensive on the kidnappers’ camp, overpowering the armed gang and securing the safe release of those held captive.
Military authorities disclosed that the operation in Benue was part of a broader, ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-crime campaign across the country. The nationwide crackdown also led to the elimination of 15 terrorists, the arrest of 42 suspects, and the rescue of 30 other kidnap victims.
In the North East, soldiers engaged Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in several hotspots, including Dikwa, Gwoza, Bama, Banki, and Gujba, killing 15 insurgents and seizing rifles, explosives, grenades, motorcycles, and communication gadgets.
Meanwhile, security forces made multiple arrests in other regions: 15 suspects apprehended in Kaduna for illicit drug activities, 25 arrested in Bayelsa for oil theft, and two in Delta State for related crimes. In the South-South, troops also dismantled illegal crude oil bunkering sites across Imo, Rivers, and Delta States.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations aimed at protecting citizens, dismantling criminal networks, and restoring peace across Nigeria.
