Akpabio’s Aide to PDP: Retract EFCC Case Claim or Face Lawsuit

The Media Aide to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has vehemently refuted claims that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has a pending case against his principal, branding the accuser’s comments as “irresponsible.”
Dependable NG reports that Kenny Okolugbo, the media aide, made the clarification during a Saturday interview programme on Arise Television. A reporter for Dependable NG noted that the aide was responding to allegations made by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adetokunbo Pearse, who had publicly claimed that Akpabio has outstanding criminal cases with the EFCC.
Okolugbo dismissed Pearse’s entire submission, stating: “Pearse was quite irresponsible with his comments about Senate President Godswill Akpabio.” He specifically pointed out that the allegations that Akpabio is a “criminal, has cases pending with the EFCC, and poses a threat to women in the Senate are totally uncalled for.”
Taking a firm stance, the Senate President’s office has now issued a legal threat to the PDP chieftain. Okolugbo disclosed that a letter has been sent to Pearse, demanding a full retraction of his statements and a public apology to be aired on national television and published in the daily press.
“If he fails to do so within three days, we will take further action to ensure that people stop using the Senate President as a punching bag,” Okolugbo warned, indicating that the matter would be pursued legally should Pearse fail to comply with the three-day deadline.
