ADC Threatens Lawsuit Against Senator Abaribe
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State has issued a strong warning and threatened to pursue legal action against Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South) for his alleged interference in the internal affairs of the party. The ADC leadership has accused the senator, who is a member of a rival political party, of actively destabilizing their structure by convening unauthorized meetings and sponsoring a parallel executive committee within the state.
Chiamaka Ohaka, the state Publicity Secretary of the ADC, issued a trenchant statement warning Abaribe to immediately desist from undermining the party’s legitimate leadership or face severe legal consequences. The party demanded that the lawmaker remove all affiliated agents and hired individuals currently posing as ADC members in the state within a strict 48hour ultimatum.
The ADC clarified their position on the senator’s alleged involvement, emphasizing that he holds no formal standing within their ranks. “For clarity, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe is not a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and is therefore not affiliated with any level of the party from the ward to the national level,” the statement read. The party further asserted that the senator has “never obtained a membership form, attended any meetings, or contributed financially to the growth of our party.”
The statement detailed the severity of the alleged transgression: “Yet, in a brazen display of political impropriety, he has established fake parallel executives, improperly influenced vulnerable party officers, and propagated malicious falsehoods—all aimed at creating discontent and dismantling the legitimate structure of the ADC in Abia State.”
The party stressed that Abaribe’s actions were driven by personal ambition, warning him to allow the ADC in Abia State to function without interference and to “stop sowing discord with the intent to hijack the party for selfish interests.” The ADC is clearly asserting its autonomy and readiness to defend its structural integrity in court if the senator does not comply with their demands to “stay in his lane.” In response to the grave allegations, Mr. Uche Awom, Abaribe’s media aide, declined to comment, stating that his principal would not be responding to the claims.
